* Assists in the preparation and implementation of comprehensive parks, facility, trail, and open space plans in coordination with the Director of Parks and Recreation.
* Collects, evaluates, and analyzes planning-related data (including demographics, usage trends, geospatial datasets, and environmental assessments) to support planning decisions and project prioritization.
* Supports the preparation and administration of the Department's annual capital budget and multi-year capital improvement program, providing project tracking, reporting, and documentation.
* Serves as the departmental coordinator for assigned projects.
* Develops and administers public engagement strategies and opportunities for planning studies, including community meetings, surveys, stakeholder workshops, and advisory committee engagement.
* Prepares planning reports, presentations, graphics, and written project summaries for the advisory boards, City leadership, and community groups.
* Supports the development of department performance measures, benchmarking systems, and progress evaluation tools related to capital planning and special projects.
* Works with advisory boards, consultants, volunteers, community organizations, and other government agencies regarding planning and capital improvement projects.
* Coordinates preparation of grant applications related to departmental projects and coordinates the administration of awarded grants.
* Assists management with the planning, coordination, and supervision of departmental master planning efforts and facility development initiatives.
* Coordinates and executes special events and programs as required.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
* Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques of parks and recreation system planning, capital improvement programming, and public project development.
* Knowledge of community engagement processes, facilitation methods, and public meeting practices.
* Knowledge of budgeting principles and capital budget administration.
* knowledge of governmental and nonprofit grant processes.
* Ability to coordinate and submit complete, compliant grant applications.
* Ability to work cooperatively with advisory committees, non-profit organizations, outside consultants, contractors, and citizen support groups.
* Ability to develop planning documents, written recommendations, and project reports with clarity and accuracy.
* Skill in strategic planning, schedule management, and project coordination.
* Extensive computer skills, including GIS platforms, Microsoft Office, and project management software preferred.
Four years of project management, master plan development, municipal capital projects, and/ or engagement practices experience. Two years of project management, master plan development, municipal capital projects, and/ or engagement practices and a Bachelor's degree in public policy, planning, landscape architecture, geography, parks and recreation, or a closely related field preferred.
