The Logistics Specialist will primarily handle the daily coordination of truck and rail shipments by partnering with the operations and sales personnel to meet monthly goals within a regional cluster of responsibility. The position will handle multiple tasks assigned to improve logistics performance. The position is based out of Germantown, Tennessee at the U.S. Corporate Headquarters, and will report to the Logistics Manager.
Here’s
What You’ll Do:
- Execute load tendering and support transportation requirements for mills/operations in regional cluster of responsibility
- Participate in weekly calls with mills/operations in regional cluster of responsibility
- Daily load planning for mills/operations within regional cluster of responsibility
- Build relationships with transportation providers
- Negotiate competitive rates with transportation providers
- Monitor changes to shipping patterns – seasonality /competing goods for modes, etc.
- Provide PTO support to team of Logistics Specialists
- Develop and understanding of mill inventory and partner with Sales and Operations to ensure target inventories are maintained with mills/operations in regional cluster of responsibility
- Develop an understanding of mill limitations and constraints for transportation loading within regional cluster of responsibility
- Develop a basic understanding of how/what West Fraser we produce by spending time with regional mills/operations to better understand West Fraser Operations Strategy
- Develop basic understanding of how/what we sell by partnering with sales team members to better understand West Fraser Sales Strategy
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
Here’s
What You’ll Need:
- 1 to 5 years of transportation experience
- Ability to work in a Fast-Paced Environment
- Demonstrated skill juggling multiple priorities
- Demonstrate a high level of urgency with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively multi-task and quickly change priorities
- Strong analytical, organizational, and record-keeping skills
- Highly process-oriented with proven ability to follow and improve structured workflows.
Preferred
Skills:
- 4-5 years of transportation experience
- Bachelors degree in logistics, supply chain, business or related majors
- Flatbed transportation experience
