The location in Kingsport, Tennessee, United States, is seeking talent to fill the position of Operations Coordinator - K1
. This job is full‑time permanent.
This role is primarily responsible for all aspects of K‑1 Linerboard machine including but not limited to safety, quality, and productivity. The Operations Coordinator coordinates the efforts of the team to ensure that all activities associated with the department are performed in a safe, efficient and organized manner. The Operations Coordinator must be a team builder that involves others in a way that promotes engagement.
As a leader in the department, the Operations Coordinator must have the necessary process knowledge to guide the organization toward making decisions with the best possible outcome. Also, based on the need of the mill and crew, the Operations Coordinator may be required to fill in for Team Leads on shift rotation. Additional responsibilities will include filling in for Assistant Superintendent when they are out of pocket.
The ideal candidate will have advanced process knowledge and experience of container board grade paper manufacturing, preferably in a 100% recycled operation.
- Drives the flow‑to‑work, high‑performance work system.
- Supports day‑to‑day operations of hourly work teams.
- Engages and inspires team members by promoting an inclusive culture and team‑based decision making.
- Works with CI, departmental management, Maintenance and Operational Team Leaders to identify / implement process improvements and cost reduction projects to achieve desired results.
- Works with Tech/QC Manager, departmental management, and Operational work teams to identify root‑cause of off‑quality events and drives permanent solutions.
- Be a safety advocate for the mill, lead by example.
- Drive team efforts to identify root cause of issues, identify permanent corrective actions, document in mill‑wide database, and provide follow‑up.
- High School Diploma
- 3 or more years of experience in a paper mill operational setting
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred
- Knowledge of Domtar Safety rules concerning LOTO, Confined Space, etc.
- Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Word
- Secondary gate keeper of reports and maintenance records to Maintenance Planner
- Assists Supervisor and Maintenance Planner in development of weekly planned work schedule
- Ability to manage people safely and efficiently during normal operations, planned and unplanned outages
