Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Control Nurse - Nursing Home
Located in Kingsport, TN
* SALARY RANGE: $65K to $75K per year, depending on experience*
Qualifications:- Must have current Tennessee RN license
- Must have Infection Control Certification
- Must have experience as an Infection Control Nurse in long term care
- Must have LTC experience and thorough knowledge of state/federal regulations governing the nursing home industry.
- Must have nurse education experience
- Must have long term care/nursing home experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Provides orientation/ongoing education to Nursing Staff.
- May provide orientation/education for employees for various departments as indicated
- Has the authority to formulate, affect, interpret, and implement management policies and operating practices with regard to Nursing responsibilities.
- Performs administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, class attendance and subject records
- Educate staff on new protocols/policy etc.
- Be involved in/provide on unit education.
- Make rounds on all units/all shifts and meet with staff to identify educational needs and compliance with facility policies and nursing standards of practice.
- Development of new lesson plans as indicated.
- Initiate and participate in new educational strategies.
- Maintains in-service records for all staff members.
- Identifies educational needs of Nursing staff and provides individual, group and unit education/in-service.
- Observes Nursing staff for competency and clinical practices.
- Observes CNAs to assure carrying out and completion of tasks in an appropriate manner.
- Makes rounds on all units with staff to identify educational needs and compliance with facility needs and nursing standards of practice.
- Participates in the developing, maintaining, and updating of written policies and procedures that govern day-to-day activities of the Performance Improvement/ Infection Control department
- Analyze and evaluate Performance Improvement/ Infection Control programs, policies and procedures
- Develop, implement, review and revise Performance Improvement/ Infection Control activities within the PI/ Infection Control Program
- Ensure compliance with government and accrediting agency standards and regulations pertaining to Performance Improvement and Infection Control
- Plan and oversee all Performance Improvement/ Infection Control programs and evaluate program outcomes
- Revise policies, procedures and programs as needed to improve departmental functions and to ensure the departments are meeting the needs of the resident, their family, the facility, and regulatory agencies
- Develop, implement and monitor systems for Performance Improvement/ Infection Control documentation and record keeping necessary to maintain accountability and compliance with federal and state regulations and facility policies
