Primary Objective:
Provide clinical and regulatory leadership within Nursing Services. This role is responsible for collaborating closely with the RDN for oversight of medical decision-making, regulatory compliance, interdisciplinary coordination, and quality assurance across assigned sites. The Nurse Manager acts as the clinical escalation point for complex medical concerns, hospitalizations, surveys, and infection control, while supporting organizational readiness.
Essential Functions and Scope:
- Supervise Nursing Supervisor in the performance of their assigned duties
- Maintain regular communication with leadership to review performance, address challenges, and highlight accomplishments
- Provide clinical oversight to ensure appropriate care coordination, intervention follow-through, and collaboration with healthcare providers
- Serve as a liaison across clinical services, supporting specialty care coordination and monitoring treatment outcomes
- Oversee preventive care initiatives, including vaccinations and wellness programs
- Support infection control efforts through tracking, trend analysis, and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Maintain survey readiness and support regulatory processes, including audits, inspections, and corrective action plans
- Coordinate care transitions, including hospitalizations, discharges, and admissions, ensuring continuity and compliance
- Participate in client intake processes, including pre-admission review and service planning support
- Review nursing assessments to ensure accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness
- Maintain regular field presence to monitor clinical quality, compliance, and staff performance, and address identified concerns
- Conduct audits and observations to support quality assurance, staff development, and adherence to best practices
- Participate in leadership meetings, team discussions, and organizational planning activities
- Provide on-call support as assigned and ensure timely communication and documentation of issues
- Promote a positive team environment focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and high-quality care
- Work closely and in cooperation with other personnel and contracted persons
- Provide temporary backup for respective operation(s) in the absence of Regional Director of Nursing
- Primary designee of communication and management for electronic health records system
- Performs other job duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required;
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred - Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- BLS certification required within 30 days of employment
- PCM certification required within 60 days of employment
- Valid driver’s license required
- Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience required, preferably in long-term care, developmental disabilities, or residential healthcare settings
- Previous supervisory or charge nurse experience required
- Experience with regulatory surveys and compliance preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong problem solving, clinical assessment, and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations, CMS requirements, and survey
processes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to lead, mentor, and hold staff accountability
