Job Description:

The Centralized Maintenance and Services (CM&S) Division is seeking a maintenance craft person to join the Elevator / Hoist Crew. This role provides maintenance, troubleshooting, preventive care, and emergency response for elevators and hoists across the Kingsport site.

Maintenance Craft Person
:
Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment associated with elevators and hoists, with an emphasis on electrical troubleshooting. Takes ownership of hoist inspections or a set number of area-specific elevators together with a team member, including preventive maintenance, inspections, documentation, and follow-up. Works both independently and as part of a team and participates in the scheduled on-call rotation.

It is recommended that a current resume include all relatable prior work experience, any training certifications, apprenticeship completions and license information.

Schedule & On-Call Rotation Information:
  • 5-week rotating schedule that includes some weekend coverage:
  • 4/10 hour days (Monday–Thursday) schedule 3 out of every 5 weeks (as assigned)
  • Work 1 week out of 5, Tuesday–Friday.
  • Work 1 weekend out of every 5 (Thursday–Sunday).
  • Schedule offers 6 consecutive days off every 5-week rotation (per staffing plan).
  • On-call rotation: scheduled periodically for one person every 10 weeks for after-hours coverage (compensated per Eastman guidelines). Must be reachable and able to respond per departmental policy.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding and commitment to safety and follow company safety programs and life critical processes.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment associated with elevators and hoists, with an emphasis on electrical troubleshooting.
  • Take ownership of hoist inspections or a set number of area-specific elevators together with a team member (preventive maintenance, inspections, documentation, follow-up).
  • Work unsupervised when required: managing workload, assessing and setting work priorities, and reporting progress to supervision.
  • Provide after-hours emergency support and participate in a scheduled on-call rotation.
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment and assist coworkers as needed.
  • Demonstrate willingness to take training for elevators and hoists and apply new skills on the job.
Job Expectations:
  • Must follow all safety procedures.
  • Must wear company-provided personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses with side shields, and hard hats at all times in designated areas. Other specialized protective equipment must be worn when required.
  • Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Examples of physical requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to climb as necessary to reach the job.
  • Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, platforms, crane baskets and JLG lifts.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work the rotating schedule described above, including weekend coverage and the on-call rotation.
