Position Summary  The General Maintenance crew member will learn to troubleshoot and repair any mechanical issues that arise. In addition, the crew member is responsible for ensuring that all facilities are attractive and in working order. They will provide preventative, corrective, emergency, cosmetic, and routine maintenance as well as a number of technical maintenance services. This position will include duties such as painting, cleaning, repairing, renovating, and remodeling.

Duties and Responsibilities   Performs various duties such as painting, fixing, repairing, troubleshooting minor problems
Basic carpentry and masonry work
Assists with the start-up and close-out of projects
Possesses ability to maintain a high customer service level
Ensures compliance with health and safety procedures
Operates large scale machinery such as forklifts and telehandler (as required)
Knows and understands internal policy and external regulatory requirements that relate to the position and department
Adheres to all health and safety regulations
Paints with single part and two-part paints; prepares and paints many types of surfaces
Performs basic carpentry work: frames, drywalls, and install doors, windows, baseboard, and molding
Performs basic masonry work such as concrete, tile, grout, and stone work
Maintains building infrastructure including basic water, sewage, and work
Uses hand tools and power tools correctly
Gathers and/or requests materials to complete a job
Possesses the ability to self-manage on small products
Works closely with Director of Marine and Facilities to complete duties and work assignments
Completed work using logs, inspection forms, and maintenance databases when appropriate
Advises management of corrective actions or preventative actions when necessary
Understands/has working knowledge of Lockout tag out System
Assists in preparing the preventive maintenance schedule for all project equipment and monitors the system to maintain and repair project equipment
Responds to work order requests as needed in a timely and accurate manner, and cleans up after work orders are complete
Maintains records on preventive maintenance and work order requests
Maintains inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment, and makes purchasing recommendations
Performs inspections of systems, as requested. Informs appropriate staff of any unusual activity or maintenance issues in a timely manner
Maintains all equipment to manufacturer’s specifications
Ensures that all grounds and facilities are well maintained
Checks all garbage bins, emptying them when necessary
Collects garbage and recycling on land and separates each accurately to individual compactors
Works with a safety mindset by following all safety policies, procedures and safety measures (i.e. PPE). Identifies and brings forward risks, hazards and opportunities on the job. Actively participates in health and safety in the workplace
Assists the Food & Beverage Department with any maintenance repairs required in the restaurant/ice cream area.
Maintains a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (refer to appearance standards in employee handbook)
Reports to work on time and for all scheduled shifts.
Understands all City Cruises policies and procedures relating to the employee’s role within the company.
Maintains any applicable licenses and certifications
Completes any other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications   O.S.S.D or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education
Minimum two (2) years’ experience in facilities and maintenance role preferably in a hospitality environment
General knowledge of plumbing, HVAC systems
WHMIS (training provided)
Working knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out Systems
Strong problem solving & project management skills
Must be willing to work all shifts including days/evenings shifts including weekends and holidays
Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move or lift up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms)
Walk, stand, sit and work in all types of weather conditions for extended periods
Continually and repeatedly perform functions indoors and outdoors
If required, wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. non-slip shoes, gloves, weather appropriate dress attire, sun protection)
