Science Technician – September 2026

We are seeking a reliable, organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Kingston upon Thames from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Science Technician or someone with a strong science background looking to support practical teaching and learning. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preparing resources, maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment for students and staff.

The Role

You will:

* Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and materials for practical Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

* Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure resources are stored safely and efficiently.

* Assist teaching staff with practical demonstrations and experiments where required.

* Monitor and manage stock levels, ordering equipment and consumables as necessary.

* Ensure laboratories comply with health and safety regulations, including the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals and equipment.

* Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning and calibration of laboratory equipment.

* Support the Science department with administrative tasks and resource management.

* Promote safe working practices at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will have:

* Previous experience working as a Science Technician or in a laboratory, educational or scientific environment (desirable).

* A good understanding of Biology, Chemistry and Physics practical work.

* Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.

* Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

* The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Strong communication and time management skills.

* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
