Educational Sign Language Interpreter

Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to support students in a school environment near Kingston, NY. This contract opportunity involves working closely with two individual students, ensuring their active participation in the educational experience through quality interpreting services.

You will interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities for two students, each requiring dedicated attention for 5.5 hours per day. Your skill in bridging communication will be instrumental in helping these students thrive academically and socially.

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
• Experience interpreting in K-12 school settings preferred
• Ability to support students with varying needs and learning styles
• Strong sense of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical boundaries
• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (national or state-level)
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible to adapt to school routines

• Provide accurate, impartial, and clear communication between students and school staff
• Interpret academic lessons, peer interactions, assemblies, and school events as assigned
• Prepare for lessons by reviewing relevant materials beforehand
• Collaborate with teachers and support personnel to foster an inclusive learning environment
• Maintain professional boundaries and respect student confidentiality at all times
• Monitor and report student engagement and communication needs as appropriate
