Role Summary

We are hiring a Family Worker to deliver services and advocacy for families enrolled in our Head Start program, aligned with Performance Standards and the U.C.C.A.C., Inc. Head Start Plan. This role supports family engagement, school readiness goals, and full enrollment. Key responsibilities include recruitment/enrollment (events, waitlist interviews, eligibility documentation), strength-based goal setting with families, required home visits (minimum 3x/year), referrals and follow-up, parent orientations and workshops, Parent Committee/Policy Council support, transition planning, and accurate GoEngage documentation.

Required qualifications:

- Associate's or Bachelor's in Human Services or related field - 2+ years working with at-risk families
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation; able to lift/carry 50 lbs.

- Flexibility for occasional nights/weekends
- If degree is in another discipline, complete a related credential within 18 months Apply to be considered.

A Typical Day

You start onsite at 8:30 a.m., check messages, and review your GoEngage notes so you know which families need follow-up. Mid-morning may include a scheduled home visit or a quick stop to collect missing eligibility paperwork. Back at the center, you connect with the Center Director and other service staff to align on family needs and upcoming meetings. After lunch, you may prepare materials for a parent workshop, help a family navigate a community referral, or plan for an upcoming recruitment event.

Some days include brief classroom coverage. The day wraps with documentation and planning the next contacts before you leave at 4:00 p.m. (with occasional evening commitments for parent meetings).
