The Financial Service Officer (FSO) delivers a high level of member service by building strong relationships and providing comprehensive financial solutions that meet member and employee needs. This role is responsible for assisting members with a wide range of financial transactions and services, including deposit accounts, consumer loans, Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), commercial accounts, certificates, fraud education and resolution, and other credit union products and services.
The FSO serves as a trusted advisor, identifying opportunities to improve members' financial well-being, support credit union growth, and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Provides a high level of professional, courteous, and personalized service while building strong member relationships. Assists and guides members with their financial transactions; opening, maintaining, and closing consumer and commercial accounts; answers questions about products and services; works with business partners to discover member solutions beyond employee's scope.
- Conducts meaningful member conversations to assess borrowing needs and recommend appropriate loan and ancillary products. Guides members through the consumer loan application process while identifying opportunities to deepen relationships. Adheres to established lending guidelines and clearly communicate loan decisions, including approval terms, denial reasons, payment options, and lending requirements.
- Assists members with a variety of teller transactions while providing accurate, efficient, and professional service. Maintains current knowledge of fraud trends and prevention practices to identify and mitigate potential risks. Processes transactions within established authority limits and policies and collaborate with coworkers to support branch operations and ensure a positive member experience.
- Ensures the accuracy and completeness of documentation by thoroughly reviewing system information, supporting documents, disclosures, and agreements. Verifies member information for compliance with credit union policies, regulatory requirements, and established procedures. Maintains a high level of accuracy to minimize risk and support sound practices.
- Demonstrates a heightened awareness of physical security and member privacy by safeguarding confidential information and adhering to established security procedures. Remains vigilant in identifying potential security risks and taking appropriate action to protect members, employees, and credit union assets.
- Promotes and actively supports branch and credit union initiatives by participating in sales, service, and operational goals. Demonstrates a commitment to organizational objectives, contributes to team success, and fosters member engagement through consistent advocacy of credit union products, services, and community involvement efforts.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
- Minimum 1 year of customer service and/or sales experience is required
- Minimum 1 year of Lending experience is preferred
- Minimum 1 year of financial services experience is preferred
- High School Diploma or GED is required
