Job Description Salary $61,944.00-$75,541.00 PRIMARY PURPOSE

Provide leadership, management, and instructional support for library/media services across multiple district campuses. Coordinate and deliver library services, instructional resources, and literacy initiatives to support student achievement and instructional excellence. Serve as a teacher, information specialist, technology resource, and curriculum partner while managing and supporting all assigned campus libraries on a rotating basis.

The District Librarian will oversee library operations, promote literacy and research skills, support instructional programs, and ensure equitable access to library/media resources for students and staff across all assigned campuses while ensuring full compliance with Senate Bill 13 (SB 13), district policy, and all applicable state and federal laws governing school library materials and services.

QUALIFICATIONS Education / Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Master’s degree in Library Science, Library & Information Science, or related field preferred
  • Valid Texas School Librarian Certification or Learning Resources Specialist certification
Special Knowledge / Skills
  • Knowledge of library science principles, instructional technology, and media services
  • Knowledge of curriculum integration and literacy development
  • Knowledge of Senate Bill 13 (SB 13), Texas Education Code requirements, board policy EFB (Local), and procedures related to library materials selection and review
  • Ability to support instruction across multiple grade levels and campuses
  • Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and schedules effectively
  • Proficiency with library management systems, digital databases, and instructional technology tools
Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Support & Collaboration
  • Provide group instruction and individual guidance to students in information literacy, research skills, digital citizenship, and the effective use of library resources.
  • Collaborate with teachers and campus administrators to integrate library/media resources into classroom instruction and curriculum.
  • Serve as an instructional resource and curriculum support partner for teachers across assigned campuses.
  • Promote literacy, reading engagement, and lifelong learning through library programming and student activities.
  • Provide professional learning and support for staff regarding library resources, databases, instructional technology, research tools, and district procedures related to library materials.
Library Program Management
  • Coordinate and manage library/media center operations across all assigned campuses.
  • Develop and implement a district-wide library services plan aligned with district instructional goals, literacy priorities, and student needs.
  • Manage acquisition, cataloging, circulation, inventory, maintenance, and organization of library materials and digital resources.
  • Evaluate and recommend library materials, technology resources, and instructional media to support curriculum and student achievement in accordance with district policy and Senate Bill 13 requirements.
  • Ensure all library materials and resources comply with Senate Bill 13 (SB 13), Texas Education Code, Board Policy EFB (Local), and district-approved library material review procedures.
  • Maintain equitable access to library resources and services for all assigned campuses.
  • Coordinate and maintain digital resource subscriptions, online databases, and multimedia resources.
  • Create and maintain welcoming library environments conducive to learning and student engagement.
  • Promote parent and community involvement in literacy and library initiatives.
