Agriculture Teacher
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Career Cluster designed to fulfill their maximum potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and technical skills in agricultural mechanics, welding, livestock production, agricultural science, and related career pathways.
QualificationsEducation/Certification
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate Career and Technical Education (CTE) certification in Agriculture Science and Technology
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of agricultural science, agricultural mechanics, welding, livestock production, small engines, and power systems
• Ability to operate and instruct students in the safe use of agricultural equipment and tools
• Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources
• Strong classroom management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to supervise student projects, FFA activities, and livestock shows
• Knowledge of shop safety procedures and agricultural laboratory management
Experience
- Student teaching or approved internship
• Experience in agricultural education or related agricultural industry preferred

Direct student aides, interns, and student agricultural project teams as assigned.

Maintain emotional control under stress
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and outdoor work
• Exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, livestock, machinery, and shop equipment
• Occasional prolonged and irregular hours for competitions, livestock shows, and FFA events
Terms of Employment
Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Trustees and administrative regulations.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
