Career And Technical Education Teacher
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to develop employability, career readiness, independent living, communication, and workplace skills necessary for successful transition to postsecondary education, training, and employment. Support students in acquiring skills needed for success in workplace and community environments.
QualificationsEducation/Certification
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate certification in Career and Technical Education, Special Education, or related field
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of employability skills, career readiness, workplace behaviors, and transition planning
• Ability to teach communication, problem-solving, teamwork, time management, and job-related skills
• Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) related to career preparation and employability
• Ability to work with diverse student populations and community partners
• Strong classroom management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to supervise community-based instruction and work-based learning experiences
Experience
- Student teaching or approved internship
• Experience working with secondary students in career readiness, transition, or workforce development preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct student aides, interns, and community/work-based learning activities as assigned.
Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting instructional materials. Occasional travel for community-based instruction or work-site visits. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours for student activities and events
Terms of Employment
Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Trustees and administrative regulations.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
