Job Description Primary PurposeProvide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to develop employability, career readiness, independent living, communication, and workplace skills necessary for successful transition to postsecondary education, training, and employment. Support students in acquiring skills needed for success in workplace and community environments.
Qualifications Educational Requirements- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate certification in Career and Technical Education, Special Education, or related field
- Knowledge of employability skills, career readiness, workplace behaviors, and transition planning
- Ability to teach communication, problem-solving, teamwork, time management, and job‑related skills
- Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) related to career preparation and employability
- Ability to work with diverse student populations and community partners
- Strong classroom management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to supervise community‑based instruction and work‑based learning experiences
- Student teaching or approved internship
- Experience working with secondary students in career readiness, transition, or workforce development (preferred)
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with TEKS and district curriculum requirements.
- Teach employability skills including communication, teamwork, professionalism, problem‑solving, and workplace expectations.
- Provide instruction in career exploration, job applications, resume writing, interviewing skills, and workplace safety.
- Prepare students for postsecondary education, training, employment, and independent living opportunities.
- Utilize instructional technologies and hands‑on learning experiences.
- Differentiate instruction according to student needs, abilities, and learning styles.
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and student success.
- Encourage responsibility, self‑advocacy, independence, and career readiness.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Assist students in developing personal, educational, and vocational goals.
- Coordinate work‑based learning, job shadowing, internships, or community‑based instruction opportunities when applicable.
- Maintain records related to student progress, certifications, and transition activities.
- Ensure compliance with district procedures and safety standards.
- Assist in development and promotion of the district’s employability and transition programs.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, employers, and community agencies.
- Communicate effectively regarding student achievement, career planning, and program activities.
- Participate in professional development activities and workforce readiness training.
- Stay current with workforce trends, transition practices, and employability standards.
- Attend faculty meetings and required district events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration.
Direct student aides, interns, and community/work‑based learning activities as assigned.
Working ConditionsMental and physical demands include maintaining emotional control under stress, frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting instructional materials, occasional travel for community‑based instruction or work‑site visits, and occasional prolonged and irregular hours for student activities and events.
Terms of EmploymentSalary and work year to be established by the Board of Trustees and administrative regulations.
EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $52,550 to $71,340 Per Month
