Job title
Assistant Director for Special Education Compliance
OverviewKingville ISD is seeking an Assistant Director for Special Education Compliance to ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to special education services. This role supports the Director of Special Education in monitoring, implementing, and improving systems that ensure legal compliance, high-quality instruction, and equitable outcomes for students with disabilities.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field preferred. - Valid Texas teaching certificate required;
Special Education EC-12 certification required. - Principal or other administrative certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in special education, including ARD/IEP processes and compliance.
- Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and regulations (IDEA, TEA requirements).
- Experience in program monitoring, compliance review, and data analysis preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to interpret policy and provide guidance across multiple campuses.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and related data tools.
- Strong understanding of federal and state special education rules and laws.
- Ability to write standard-based PLAAFPs and measurable goals/objectives.
- Knowledge of IPI, Transition, and Graduation areas of the IEP.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong relationship-building with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Compliance Monitoring and Accountability
- Ensure district compliance with applicable federal, state, and local special education laws, regulations, and policies.
- Monitor campus-level implementation of special education services, including ARD/IEP compliance, timelines, and documentation.
- Conduct monthly audits of student records, evaluation procedures, and service delivery for accuracy and compliance.
- Identify noncompliance areas and develop corrective action plans with campus and district leadership.
- Maintain records and documentation required for audits and reporting.
- Manage Samegoal documents to ensure ARDs are compliant before archiving; monitor Samegoal records for accurate counts.
- ARD/IEP Oversight and Support
- Provide guidance to campuses for ARD committee meetings; ensure ARD processes are implemented with fidelity.
- Support development, review, and implementation of high-quality IEPs; ensure timely evaluations, annual reviews, and reevaluations.
- Program Implementation and Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with the Director of Special Education to design systems that improve service delivery and outcomes.
- Analyze district/campus data related to special education performance and compliance indicators.
- Support continuous improvement aligned with district goals, including MTSS integration.
- Monitor implementation of interventions to ensure fidelity and effectiveness.
- Training and Capacity Building
- Provide ongoing professional development on compliance, processes, and best practices.
- Develop and deliver training on ARD procedures, documentation, legal requirements, and instructional support.
- Conduct new teacher training for IEP writing; serve as a resource for campuses on compliance questions.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Inform campus-based staff of IEP timelines, ARDs, evaluation timelines, reevaluations, and MDRs.
- Collaborate with campus administrators, special education staff, general education teachers, and district leadership.
- Communicate clearly with parents, staff, and stakeholders about compliance expectations and processes.
- Support resolution of concerns or complaints related to special education services in line with district procedures.
- Send weekly compliance updates to the Director of Special Education.
