As part of the NVA family, we offer a supportive and dynamic environment where clinical year veterinary students can gain invaluable hands‑on experience.
About Our HospitalLocated just 40 minutes south of Corpus Christi, AMC Kingsville is a well‑established, multi‑doctor mixed animal practice, with the vast majority of our caseload consisting of small animals. Our modern facility includes advanced diagnostic tools such as digital X‑rays, ultrasound, and in‑house Idexx labs. With nearly 50 years of service, our collaborative team is dedicated to providing high‑quality, compassionate care.
While we are equipped to treat both small and large animals, our current large animal caseload is limited. Students should expect a predominantly small animal experience, with occasional exposure to large animal cases depending on the week.
Externship DetailsExterns will work closely with our veterinarians to gain experience in:
- Physical exams and diagnostics.
- Surgical procedures and dentistry services
. - Treatment plans and medical management.
- Client communication and teamwork.
Externships typically range from 2 to 8 weeks and offer exposure to primarily small animal medicine, with a sprinkle of large animals.
