Position: Research Assistant at Texas A&M University Kingsville, TX

Job Overview

Research Assistant at Texas A&M University Health Science Center, Pharmacy – Instruction Department, located in Kingsville, TX. The position is a staff role with a proposed minimum salary of $3,750.00 monthly ($45,000.00 annually).

Responsibilities
  • Research: Intensively participates in data analysis and preliminary data collection through accurately following experimental protocols such as cell culture, PCR, ELISA, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and mice behavioral studies. Compiles data files, collects, interprets, and analyzes data, prepares reports, and presents conclusions. Maintains mouse colony, performs surgery on xenograft mice, conducts behavioral tests, generates preliminary data for lung cancer and Alzheimer’s projects, and participates in poster and podium presentations.
  • Administrative: Under supervision of PI, organizes professional collaboration between pharmacy/graduate students and lab team members. Helps train new lab members or undergraduate and graduate students on techniques and safety protocols. Ships laboratory agents, works collaboratively with students and PIs, and attends lab meetings and discussions.
Qualifications
  • Required Education
    :
    Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    :
    Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment, knowledge of computers and related software, and attention to detail.
  • Additional Requirements
    :
    Compliance & Safety – Follow institutional biosafety and animal care guidelines (IACUC, IBC, lab specific). Participate in laboratory safety training and adhere to SOPs. Core lab maintenance may require weekend or after‑normal‑hours work.
