Maintenance Worker, Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician ​/ Mechanic

Job Title

Maintenance Worker I – Agency:
Texas A&M University – Kingsville Department Campus Operations

Under general supervision, performs maintenance and repair work.

• Reports to Maintenance Worker III
• Performs preventative maintenance, repairs and service work
• Performs maintenance, repair and construction work
• Conducts inspections of roof systems, windows, doors, bleachers to ensure proper maintenance and repair
• Assists with repairs and replacement of window glass
• Assists with installations of various signs on campus
• Assists with ceiling and flooring repairs
• Assists and performs annual paint maintenance plans across campus
• Performs street and parking striping, crosswalks, building monuments, building names, light poles, handrails, street and parking curbs, building entrances, doors
• Assists and performs sheet-rock maintenance (tape, float, texture)
• Assists with paint refresh projects within interior of buildings
• Assists with installation of furniture, window blinds, drapes, hanging of portraits and painting
• Assists with stage assembly and breakdown
• Participates in on-call duties for evenings, weekends and special events
• Acts as service responder during emergency, weather, and catastrophic events
• Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of related experience
• Basic understanding of tools, materials and safety precautions
• Ability to multitask and work independently and cooperatively with others
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
• Ability to make close measurements and work with accurate dimensions
• Ability to lift moderately heavy objects
