The Parent and Community Engagement Coordinator serves as a liaison between the school district, families, and the community to strengthen meaningful partnerships that support student achievement, attendance, school improvement, and overall student success. This position coordinates district and campus family engagement initiatives, promotes positive relationships with stakeholders, increases volunteerism, and ensures compliance with Title I Parent and Family Engagement requirements and other applicable federal and state regulations.
QualificationsEducation
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 48 college hours of post secondary training and/or Associate’s Degree preferred
- Ability to work well with students, teachers and parents
- Needs to have transportation to transport students or parents
- Communicate effectively in English and Spanish–preferred
- Must have typing or computer skills
- Experience working with families, schools, or community organizations is preferred.
- Experience coordinating parent engagement or volunteer programs preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to organize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community partners.
- Valid Texas driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the district.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, families, campus staff, and community organizations.
- Serve as the district liaison between families, schools, and community agencies.
- Coordinate and implement parent and family engagement activities aligned with the District Improvement Plan and Campus Improvement Plans.
- Promote a welcoming, customer-focused environment for all families.
- Encourage meaningful family participation in student learning and school activities.
- Assist parents in navigating district services, programs, and available resources.
- Coordinate parent meetings, workshops, family literacy events, and educational activities.
- Promote regular communication between families and schools through newsletters, calendars, digital communications, and outreach activities.
- Assist campuses in planning and facilitating PTO/PTA meetings, Title I meetings, and other family engagement events.
- Work collaboratively with principals, counselors, teachers, social workers, and district staff to identify and support students and families in need.
- Assist in identifying students experiencing homelessness and coordinate services in accordance with the McKinney‑Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
- Connect families with community resources, healthcare providers, social service agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
- Coordinate clothing, school supplies, and other assistance programs for eligible students and families.
- Assist with attendance improvement efforts, parent conferences, and home visits as appropriate.
- Recruit, screen, train, coordinate, and recognize district volunteers.
- Develop partnerships with local businesses, higher education institutions, faith‑based organizations, civic groups, and community agencies.
- Coordinate mentoring opportunities and volunteer initiatives that support district goals.
- Strengthen community partnerships that enhance educational opportunities for students.
- Coordinate district Title I Parent and Family Engagement activities in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
