Job Details

We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Plant Cost Accountant for a permanent position in our fast-paced manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will be a key player in our finance team, responsible for managing and analyzing costs, inventory, fixed assets, and monthly reporting. This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, and fixed asset accounting. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of advanced excel and invoicing procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
• Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings.
• Prepare and complete internal cost audits.
• Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
• Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results.
• Analyze any changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
• Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services.
• Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.
• Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
• Manage and control company fixed assets.
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong cost systems background and excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
• Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
• Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with fixed asset and inventory accounting.
• Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to direct and supervise.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
