Day Camp Director

The Day Camp Director provides input in the planning, organization, and supervision of age-appropriate activities and field trips for the summer day camp program. This position provides leadership and direction to the Day Camp Counselors, oversees daily camp operations, while ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all participants. The Day Camp Director is expected to maintain strong, clear communication with staff, participants, and parents.

Position starts June 1st ends July 31st (Approx: 8 weeks, 4 days).

• Plans activities for campers.
• Facilitates activities for campers.
• Plans arts and crafts projects for campers.
• Facilitates arts and crafts projects for campers.
• Plans outings for campers.
• Acts as chaperone while on outings.
• Supervises Day Camp Counselors in carrying out directives and assigned interaction with campers.
• Other duties as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in recreation, education, child development, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience working in a camp, recreational, or youth program environment required (experience with children aged 5-12 preferred).
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred.

• Valid NC Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement required.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.

This Position is temporary/seasonal and subject to the maximum 1,000-hour rule per calendar year.
