Effective teacher training certificate is required. This certificate must be attached in the documents portion of your application for verification of eligibility for the position.

Reports to:

Building principal and/or other authorized administrators

Qualifications:

High school diploma

Successfully complete effective teacher training

Nature of work:
In the absence of a classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment.

Essential functions:

  • Follows professional practices consistent with school and system policies in working with students and staff.
    • Interacts in a professional manner with students and staff.
    • Maintains student confidentiality.
    • Works cooperatively with all school personnel.
  • Complies with Lenoir County Public Schools Board of Education policies.
    • Conducts assigned classes at the times scheduled.
    • Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
    • Dresses in a manner consistent with school policies.
  • Demonstrates professional practices in teaching.
    • Models correct use of oral and written language.
    • Follows teacher lesson plans as required by school policy.
  • Acts in a professional manner.
    • Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    • Assumes responsibility for supervising students in out-of-class settings.
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.

  • Manages the learning environment

    • Monitors behavior.
