The Certified Registered Central Service Technician Instructor (Part-time) is responsible for teaching the knowledge and skills required to perform decontamination, preparation, sterilization and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment throughout the surgery center.
The Instructor is also responsible for teaching infection control and safety practices that students will adhere to at all times during all phases of their duties.
The Instructor will also prepare students to complete the Certified Registered Central Service Technician Exam through IAHCSMM.
- High school diploma or an associate's degree (preferred) from an institution accredited by a federally recognized institutional accreditor
- Licensure or certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician through IAHCSMM
- Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license
Working Conditions
- Classroom, lab, or clinical environment
- Frequent standing and walking to monitor student progress
- Some light lifting of materials pertaining to lab projects
The duties of the Certified Registered Central Service Technician Instructor (Part-time) include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning
- Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students
- Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students needs
- Employ available instructional technology, i.e. the Internet, telecourse, interactive technology, when appropriate
- Encourage the development of communication skills and higher-order thinking skills through appropriate assignments
- Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives
- Perform assessments of students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor skills and incorporate core competencies into program content
- Evaluate student performance consistently and fairly
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit required record management documentation timely
