Overview
Airbus Americas, Inc is looking for an AOS Leader - Lean Senior Expert to join our team based in Kinston, NC.
As part of the team, the AOS Leader/Senior Expert will contribute directly to the Airbus Industrial strategy by defining and deploying ways of working within operational teams with direct contact with key stakeholders. The AOS Senior Expert defines the overall strategic approach of the AOS development and deployment, conducts industrial maturity assessments and secures availability of appropriate business solutions, as well as guidance to the local senior management team in the FALs on architecture and priorities related to AOS deployment as well as on performance improvement opportunities.

Deployment (50%):
Set up and drive governance and steering at all levels (with Senior Leadership Teams), secure an AOS deployment roadmap (architecture, ensure roadmap content) and a consolidated AOS strategy to support the new industrial setup of the line, industrialization, secure the SA ramp up and future rates. Define overall AOS architecture for the new production line from project phase to entry into service, ensuring consistency of AOS across Airbus and the new production line;
define the blue sky/future of AOS and an operational roadmap (3-5 year vision). Respond to questions on AOS philosophy, strategy, tactics, and technique; understand and promote AOS + MES benefits. Advise plant stakeholders at senior management level on business priorities and how to leverage standards, methods and behaviors; identify which AOS standards best match the new production line to achieve benchmarks.
Facilitate workshops on complex topics (vision, Hoshin Kanri, macro VSM, kaizen, etc.); run and facilitate Gemba and shop floor coaching engagements; pilot the AOS standards first implementation in the new FAL using a "we do, you do" approach.
Development, Industrial Assessment and Diagnosis (20%):
Support development of AOS standards to address business issues & priorities per the AOS/Lean six-phase methodology; assess standard implementation level via the implementation checklist; lead assessments of industrial maturity integrating operations performance and AOS standard adherence; lead industrial task forces for diagnosis, solution definition and implementation; advise managers on performance improvement through AOS diagnosis (Macro-VSM, shop-floor observations).
Coaching, Influencing and Training (30%):
Deliver training deployment on AOS for the new production line population at all levels; design and provide on-the-job coaching of the AOS deployment architecture strategy with operational and local teams; design strategies for coaching, mentoring and training for change management, Lean and AOS standards/tools; provide knowledge transfer to local plant/FAL teams; grow knowledge and autonomy of business managers by supporting AOS/Lean standards and continuous improvement solutions;
facilitate/co-lead/support training development and deployment; promote internal best practices and external benchmarking across manufacturing communities.
Bachelor degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
8-12 years experience in Lean/continuous improvement operations with tangible and sustainable results
Solid knowledge of industrialization principles, manufacturing processes and production management
Experience in project management with multi-functional teams and financial aspects
Operational experience in implementation and optimization of industrial systems (conception, implementation, management of production processes)
Good communication, active listening and proactive problem solving
Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and intercultural skills in an international context
Strong influencing skills and ability to arbitrate among functions to achieve best results
Coaching/training competencies; leadership and assertiveness to influence and challenge status quo
Fluency in local language and English negotiation level
10% travel (domestic and international)
Eligible for employment in the US
Lean Six Sigma, Master Black Belt or equivalent preferred
Ability to train managers, technicians and operators
Deep knowledge of AOS/lean manufacturing and lean management and problem solving
