Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Engineering Department based in Kinston, NC. Our Engineers work on complex, highly engineered machines and are involved at all stages of the aircraft life cycle, from product development to manufacturing and direct support to our airline customers. Your Working Environment: The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state‑of‑the‑art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar. We implement and maintain the Company Quality System and ensure product and process quality/integrity meet appropriate regulatory/customer requirements.

The employee supports production activities on the A350 composite assembly line and is responsible for expertise in product process, failure analysis and operational process surveillance as part of the Aviation Safety and Quality organization.

Responsibilities
  • Develop processes, systems, and equipment to uphold quality, reliability, and system safety standards for company or procured products and services.
  • Performing Problem‑Solving (PPS):
    • Perform root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions necessary to reduce or eliminate nonconformance to design specifications.
    • Work with the team to develop PFMEA and control plans.
  • Provide review and analysis of quality system design to ensure integrity of decisions impacting products and services.
  • Analyze contractual, product definition, and specification requirements to develop or modify methods, procedures, and metrics for achieving quality standards.
  • Evaluate and provide dispositions for nonconforming materials, parts, and equipment.
  • Conduct scientific evaluations, audits, and analyses.
  • Test and approve products, processes, equipment, and measurement systems.
  • Ensure processes incorporate configuration management and participate in design and product reviews to meet quality, reliability, safety, and business objectives.
  • Conduct research, benchmarking, and analysis to improve process capability and product quality.
  • Perform root cause analyses and support corrective action implementation to address nonconformance issues.
  • Interface with employees, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Utilize statistical methodologies to maintain or enhance safety, reliability, and process capability levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited Engineering program.
  • 3‑5 years of experience in aerospace, quality, engineering, or related role.
  • Proficiency in technical writing.
  • Proficient in root cause corrective action (RCCA).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues to others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and enthusiasm for industrial asset and technologies.
  • Interest in composite technologies.

  • Vision:
    Daily able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, read documents, reports, and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing:
    Daily able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone, and hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

    Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
