Industrial Architect – Airbus Aerosystems Kinston, NC

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston seeks an experienced Industrial Architect to lead the industrial performance of our Kinston plant. The role focuses on optimizing plant systems, improving production flow, implementing cutting‑edge technologies, and managing a multidisciplinary engineering team to support ramp‑up and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Synchronize the Kinston Industrial System with production requirements, identifying and correcting issues to maintain efficient and effective processes.
• Analyze plant performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Implement improvements through continuous improvement techniques.
• Establish and report clear KPIs to functional and site leadership.
• Share best practices with other Airbus plants.

• Identify and demonstrate cutting‑edge technologies supporting operational performance and ramp‑up.
• Validate processes and procedures used by the Industrial System in plant production.
• Ensure efficient interfaces between the Industrial System and production requirements.
• Rapidly identify corrective solutions for production issues and initiate repairs to minimize delays.
• Define and initiate required change activities, enabling ME‑industrial systems and technology deployment.
• Communicate effectively with the Technical Shopfloor Support Team to deliver solutions timely.

• Lead and manage Technical Specialist teams (Quality, EQN/DQN management, Process Engineering, Shopfloor Support).
• Participate in leading the Kinston Plant Industrial Technology and liaise with continuous improvement teams.
• Deploy industrial improvements rigorously and monitor their performance.
• Set up regular reviews to drive a culture of recognition, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Deploy Airbus systems across the plant and provide guidance to other managers.
• Coach and guide all members of the ME team.

• Utilize risk and opportunity management to identify, anticipate, and evaluate upcoming risks and opportunities.
• Set up, approve, and implement risk mitigation plans.

• Promote a customer‑focused mindset and act as a change leader within the Manufacturing Engineering organization.
• Ensure correct standards for Aircraft and MOD Configuration for all program variants.
• Respond to and resolve technical queries from various departments and stakeholders.
• Develop and define assembly strategies for aircraft components.
• Specify and validate assembly tools and equipment to ensure geometric tolerances and process efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

• Minimum of 10 years relevant engineering experience within a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
• Strong background in Production Planning systems and knowledge of SAP principles.
• Strong understanding of metallic and composite manufacturing, assembly techniques, and treatment processes.
• Experience implementing manufacturing or assembly technology and working in a lean manufacturing/continuous improvement environment.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Working knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering tool sets (SAP, MES, etc.).
• 5% domestic and international travel.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Preferred: BS degree from an ABET engineering program;
  Master’s degree from an ABET program.
• Preferred:
  Working knowledge and application of BMS and QMS, and general knowledge of FAA, EASA, and ICAO.

• Onsite – aligned with Airbus Hybrid working policy.
• Vision, hearing, speaking, and equipment operation abilities required for daily duties.
• Occasional carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling of up to 30 lbs (14 kg).
• Daily sitting and standing as required; walking ability throughout office and plant areas.
• Personal protective equipment: safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, gloves as required.
• Administrative positions require steel‑toed shoes and appropriate eye/hearing protection.
