Position: Head of Lineside Support and Work Prep

Job Description

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for a Head of Lineside Support and Work Prep to lead the Manufacturing Engineering Lineside Shop Support team based in Kinston, NC.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead the Manufacturing Engineering Lineside Shop Support team, ensuring efficient support to manufacturing teams.
  • Coordinate the provision of tooling and equipment required to meet production plans.
  • Identify improvement opportunities to plant, equipment, and tooling, and assist with development and implementation.
  • Promote a safety‑first culture, champion continuous improvement, and drive productivity and quality across the plant.
  • Plan future needs of the ME LSS & Work Prep team, monitor financial budgets, and ensure value for money.
  • Engage with senior internal and external stakeholders, providing clear, concise updates and participating in strategic discussions.
  • Support manufacturing, engineering, logistics, quality, and production teams in implementing strategy changes and resolving technical queries.
  • Represent a customer‑focused mindset and drive change within the Manufacturing Engineering organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an ABET engineering program.
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant engineering experience within a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
  • Strong background in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering and knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Solid understanding of metallic and composite manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Experience with Business Management Systems (BMS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Self‑driven, team‑working, and problem‑solving skills with excellent interpersonal communication.
  • Proven record of delivering high‑quality customer service.
  • Experience in manufacturing technology implementation and continuous improvement environments.
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written).
  • Knowledge of SAP, MES, and related Manufacturing Engineering tool sets.
  • 15% domestic and international travel.
  • Preferred:
    Master’s degree from an ABET engineering program.
  • Preferred:
    Deep knowledge of 2D/3D design platforms and drawing interpretation skills.
  • Preferred:
    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred:
    General knowledge of FAA, EASA, and ICAO regulations.
  • Preferred:
    Basic Spanish and/or French (spoken).

Physical Requirements
  • Onsite working required; vision and hearing to meet daily operational needs.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 lbs (14 kg).

  • 15% short‑notice travel.
