Position: Design Engineer II (MRB)

Position Summary

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking a Design Engineer II (MRB) to join our Engineering department based in Wichita, Kansas. The role supports the production concessions of aircraft structure and is responsible for creating quality solutions in a timely manner from a design perspective.

Responsibilities
  • Develop design solutions for routine to moderate repair tasks with minimal support.
  • Ensure appropriate Airbus methods, processes and procedures are followed.
  • Liaise with and support stakeholders such as Stress, Manufacturing, Quality and other Airbus departments to develop optimum solutions.
  • Ensure Stress requirements are fully integrated into design work.
  • Develop and maintain component/aircraft familiarity to enable prompt responses.
  • Develop Technical Signature Delegation for nonconformances for primary and secondary aircraft structures (T200).
  • Create design answers and drawing packs to support T200 and T300 completion.
  • Provide technical guidance to peers and develop design engineers/designers in the delegation process.
  • Ensure all tasks and activities are executed to planned time scales.
  • Use technical principles, theories and concepts to solve technical problems.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).
  • Maintain and prioritize focus during all phases of the design process.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong emphasis on structural design, analysis and mechanics of materials.
  • Minimum three (3) years of total experience in stress analysis with airframe structures and/or system installation projects.
  • Experience answering concessions, preferably on aerospace and Airbus components.
  • Working knowledge of Airbus Structures.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling (CATIA or similar).
  • Strong computer background, including MS Excel and Google Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; positive collaborative attitude.
  • Preferred:
    Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline; experience in composite airframe structures; concession experience.
  • Preferred:
    Conversational French and/or German.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements & Travel
  • Onsite: 90% of time at Wichita facility; onsite for critical and collaborative activities.
  • Travel required:

    5% domestic and 5% international.
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens, drawings and documents.
  • Hearing and speaking: able to participate in conversations, meetings and teleconferences.
  • Equipment operation: comfortable using personal computer, telephone, fax and other office equipment.
  • Carrying: able to carry up to 30 lbs (14 kg) of documents, tools or equipment.
  • Standing, sitting, walking, squatting and kneeling: able to perform during normal work activities.
