Job Overview

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston invites experienced Machine Operators to join our Operations team. The role supports the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures for the Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar. The position is essential to maintaining our high standards of quality, safety and efficiency.

Your Working Environment

You will work in a state‑of‑the‑art facility that specializes in composite aerostructure manufacturing. Your day will involve operating machine tools, interpreting engineering drawings, performing quality checks, and contributing to continuous improvements.

Your Challenges
  • Set up and operate various machine tools to produce parts to exact tolerances.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches and engineering specifications; determine sequencing, cuts, setups and produce shop calculations.
  • Measure, mark, scribe dimensions and reference points; layout stock and assemble precision parts.
  • Monitor and verify quality using statistical process control or other methods.
  • Produce parts or assemblies using conventional or CNC machinery.
  • Perform related functions such as deburring, milling, drilling, boring, honing, grinding and fastening.
  • Complete routine minor machine maintenance (filters, light bulbs, lubrication).
  • Move product within the manufacturing area and coordinate operations with teammates.
  • Train and assist lower‑level employees and work toward MVP qualification.
  • Participate in leadership‑directed duties and receive training when required.
Your Boarding Pass (Qualifications)
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift.
  • Workkeys Assessment completion or a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Vision:
    Read computer screens, documents and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing:
    Hear conversation, alarms and safety warnings.
  • Speaking:
    Communicate in meetings and discussions.
  • Operating office equipment and production tools as required.
  • Carry, lift and move up to 30 lbs (14 kg) weekly.
  • Push or pull small furniture and equipment several times per month.
  • Sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Squat or kneel to retrieve items from low shelving.
  • Stand for discussions on the production floor.
  • Travel independently once or twice a year.
  • Walk through areas with uneven surfaces.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as specified by site and/or customer.
