Job Description

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for a Production Scheduler Advanced to join our team based in Kinston, NC.

The Production Scheduler prepares feasible production schedule scenarios for assembly and in‑house parts and their associated materials for the weekly Master Production Schedule (MPS) routines. The role considers customer need dates, actual production schedule, production status, backlog, outstanding work, available capacity (manpower, machine, material) and technical & quality factors to ensure consistency with the MPS process. The scheduler reviews MRP results on Planned Orders and Work Orders, manages work order creation, and inputs MPS planning, need dates, industrial capabilities (machines, tools, workshop facilities, maintenance plans, local objectives), manpower, component availability, stock strategy, manufacturing engineering and quality input.

Outputs include the weekly production schedule, dashboards (workload/manpower balance, work‑in‑progress analysis, planning adherence, KPIs and documentation) and work order creation.

Responsibilities
  • Short‑Term Planning & Routine Management:
Lead and animate weekly short‑term operational routines. Analyze current production status and control resource capacity—including manpower, machinery, and materials. Prepare and lead the Weekly MPS meetings, challenge stakeholders to secure firm commitments, and prevent constant planning postponements.
  • Schedule Optimization & Recovery:
Elaborate detailed production schedules and design recovery plans when deviations occur. Assess impacts on capacity requirements (workforce, strategic tooling, jigs), delivery dates, and production buffers. Validate and officialise the short‑term planning impacts on the Industrial System (5M) and ensure alignment of all production partners with the validated schedule.
  • Execution, System Integrity & KPI Tracking:
Ensure transition from planning to action by implementing decisions into the production system. Convert and release work orders based on MPS decisions, check MRP parameters and results, update IT planning tools, build and analyse KPIs to measure execution and delivery performance, and define improvement plans and corrective actions.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Promote a customer‑focused mindset within the plant organization.
    • Collaborate closely with site functions (Program, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Logistics, Quality, and Production teams) to implement strategy changes effectively.
    • Synthesize complex planning scenarios and present clear, concise updates to multiple levels of management.
    • Other duties as assigned by management.
    Qualifications
    • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Supply Chain Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
    • APICS CPIM (Level
      1) certification is a plus.
    • Minimum five years of experience in Supply Chain and/or Industrial Management.
    • Solid knowledge and hands‑on experience with MRP II principles (especially S‑ OP, MPS, MRP, Execution) and a good understanding of end‑to‑end supply‑chain concepts within a production environment.
    • Comfortable working in cross‑functional and multi‑site networks with strong communication skills.
    Travel

Approximately 5 % domestic and international travel.

    Citizenship

Authorized to work in the United States.

    Physical Requirements
    • Onsite or remote: up to 20 % remote maximum.
    • Vision, hearing, speaking, and basic computer operation capabilities.
    • Manual handling: lift, carry, push, pull, and operate office and production equipment up to 30 lbs (14 kg).
    • Other physical abilities: sitting for long periods, standing, walking, squatting, or kneeling to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving, and traveling independently on short notice.
    Benefits
    • Competitive pay, incentive compensation (may include profit‑sharing), retirement plan and participation in an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
    • Paid time off, holidays, and parental leave program.
    • Comprehensive health and welfare coverage (medical, prescription, dental, vision, life, disability, Employee Assistance Plan and supplemental coverages).
    • Development opportunities through a global Leadership University, e‑learning courses, accelerated programmes, and national/international mobility options.
