• Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in patients' condition.
• Collect patient data, order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assist in developing plans of care.
• Identify expected outcomes and implement and modify interventions.
• Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes and modify treatment plans accordingly.
• Prepare patients for, and assist with, examinations and treatments.
• Accurately prepare and administer medications according to policies and procedures.
• Document nursing process in assessments, nursing care plans (NCP), and notes per policy and procedure.
• Systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, identify practices to improve performance, and participate in CQI initiatives.
• Acquire and maintain current knowledge in nursing practice through ongoing education, training, and mastery of new equipment, policies, and procedures.
• Contribute to professional development of peers by sharing knowledge, providing feedback, mentoring, and ensuring adherence to policies.
• Make decisions and act ethically on behalf of patients, maintaining confidentiality and advocating for patient needs.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and the health‑care team to plan, implement, and evaluate care and provide health education.
• Use research findings to inform interventions and participate in improvement processes.
• Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning patient care, adhering to standard precautions and using appropriate safety equipment.

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• BCLS certification; additional specialty certifications as required.
• None required for recent graduates; 1–2 years of specialty area experience for other roles.
