Director of Nursing

- Ensure that medical and nursing care are administered in accordance with the resident's wishes, including the implementation of advance directives.
- Ensure that residents receive individualized, culturally competent care based on resident preferences.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing services department, its programs, and activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing care facilities.
- Collaborate with other health care professionals in the development and support of resident care, administrative functions, and facility mission.
- Participate in the annual facility assessment.
- Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) program for the nursing services department.
- Monitor nursing 24‑hour and shift change reports to ensure timely and effective responses to significant changes in residents' condition, transfers, discharges, new restraints, unexplained injuries, falls, incidents, accidents, behavioral management episodes, and/or medication errors.
- Oversee the staff development program to ensure nursing team members have the tools, training, and resources needed to properly care for residents.
- Work with the Infection Preventionist to establish and maintain an infection prevention and control program.
- Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure medications are administered as ordered and treatments are provided as scheduled.
- Actively participate in the QAPI Committee.
- Participate in risk management and safety committees to mitigate risk.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State.
- Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age‑related needs of residents served.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility.
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
- Minimum an Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Works in office areas and throughout the facility and its premises.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- Works beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary.
- On call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
