Job Title and Summary

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking a Quality NDT Multi‑Function Manager to lead and direct the Non‑Destructive Testing organization in our Kinston, NC facility. The role focuses on ensuring full adherence to manufacturing and quality processes to meet stringent aviation industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee NDT organizations, providing cross‑functional integration leadership.
  • Manage NDT personnel across multiple shifts, including direct staff, contractors, and purchase services.
  • Review production schedules and assign work to meet established deadlines and product flow.
  • Interface with internal teams, external suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to define, evaluate, and communicate project priorities throughout all product life‑cycle phases.
  • Develop and execute organizational vision, strategic plans, quality policies, processes, and procedures, including continuous improvement and prevention measures.
  • Establish, oversee, and administer best practices and resource requirements, including acquisition, improvement plans, and quality metrics.
  • Provide cross‑functional leadership and NDT technical expertise.
  • Mentor NDT team members, promoting accountability, safety, and ongoing development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing operations, or manufacturing engineering within the aviation industry.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% domestically or internationally.
  • Availability to work any shift, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • In‑depth knowledge of aviation Quality Management Systems, Safety Management Systems, and FOD programs, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency with NDT practices (Ultrasonic, Phased Array, Pulse Echo).
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, and other customer requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing tools (MES) and quality management systems (QMS).
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Associate’s degree in aviation, quality assurance, or a related field preferred; 10 years of experience may be considered.
  • Certifications in quality management, aviation safety, or regulatory compliance preferred but not required.
  • Experience with aerospace‑specific tools such as SAP, MES systems, and statistical software (e.g., Minitab, JMP).

    Daily ability to hear conversations, safety warnings, and floor alarms.
  • Speaking:
    Daily ability to discuss, deliver information, and participate in meetings.
  • Equipment Operation:
    Daily use of personal computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
  • Carrying:
    Weekly ability to lift 30 lbs (14 kg) of documents, tools, and equipment.
  • Lifting and Pushing/Pulling:
    Weekly ability to lift and move similar loads, occasional small furniture or equipment.
  • Sitting and Standing:
    Daily ability to sit for extended periods at a computer and stand during discussions.
  • Squatting/Kneeling:
    Daily ability to squat or kneel to retrieve items from low shelving.
  • Travel:
    Annual ability to travel independently and on short notice.
  • Walking:
    Daily ability to walk through office and production areas, including uneven surfaces.
