Quality Multi‑Function First‑Level Manager

Job Summary

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is seeking a detail‑oriented and highly organized aviation quality leader to join the Product Inspection team in Kinston, NC. The role is responsible for monitoring compliance with manufacturing and quality processes to meet stringent aviation industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct quality organizations, providing cross‑functional quality integration leadership.
  • Manage quality personnel within the assigned functional area.
  • Establish, oversee, and administer processes, policies, best practices, and resource requirements.
  • Review production schedules and assign work to facilitate task completion and product movement.
  • Interface with internal teams, external suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to define, evaluate, and communicate quality priorities.
  • Develop organizational vision, strategic plan, quality policies, and procedures, and implement process improvements.
  • Communicate, educate, train, and coach customers, suppliers, and internal personnel.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to integrate quality requirements into production and sourcing.
  • Train and mentor quality team members, fostering accountability, safety, and development.
  • Provide cross‑functional leadership and technical expertise in quality matters.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Associate’s degree or 6 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing operations, or manufacturing engineering within the aviation industry.
  • Certifications in quality management, aviation safety, or regulatory compliance preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% domestically or internationally.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of aviation QMS, Safety Management Systems, and FOD programs.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in MES, QMS, and statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.
  • Preferred experience of 10 years in similar roles.
  • Citizenship: authorized to work in the United States.
  • Willingness to work any shift, overtime, weekends, and holidays when needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Vision: able to see and read screens, documents, and drawings.
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations and hear production floor alarms.
  • Speaking: able to communicate in meetings and conversations.
  • Equipment operation: use of personal computer, phone, and office equipment.
  • Carrying: able to carry up to 30 lbs weekly.
  • Lifting: able to lift up to 30 lbs weekly.
  • Pushing/Pulling: occasional small equipment movement.
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods.
  • Standing: able to stand in meetings and on the production floor.
  • Walking: able to navigate office and production areas daily.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, respirators, gloves, and bump caps on the manufacturing floor.
