The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties, is knowledgeable in each product area or department, and helps achieve store goals and initiatives. The role promotes sales, provides customer experience, and assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
- Consult with Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility of the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments as needed.
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Assure quality customer service is maintained and perform general administrative duties as needed.
- Provide extraordinary customer service highlighted in the customer service manual, assist customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett I City Gear.
- Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in various manuals.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risk.
Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager, conduct interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision.
- Team‑player, passionate about outstanding customer service and merchandise sales.
