About this positionThe IDB Group is looking for an active graduate student to be hired as an intern under the Consultant modality.
The 2027 Winter Internship Program is a competitive paid opportunity, based in Headquarters, for university students from member countries to learn about development work and corporate management of the Bank, and to acquire work experience at the professional level through on-the-job learning.
The IDB Environmental and Social Grievance Protocol is the Bank's management-level mechanism for environmental and social concerns related to IDB-financed operations. It provides individuals, communities, and other stakeholders with a structured channel to raise concerns regarding actual or potential environmental and social impacts of Bank-financed projects. The Protocol facilitates early engagement, promotes dialogue among stakeholders (complainants and program Executing Agencies), and supports the timely identification and resolution of concerns while fostering continuous institutional learning and feeding back into project preparation and implementation.
As part of theIDBGrievance Protocol team, the intern will contribute to strengthening the Protocol's knowledge management, operational consistency, and internal capacity-building efforts. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of environmental and social sustainability, stakeholder engagement, conflict prevention, institutional learning, and development operations. The selected candidate will help transform operational experience into practical knowledge products, standardized tools, and guidance materials that support both the Protocol team and environmental and social specialists across the Bank.
What you’ll do- Support the development of an archive of case studies by reviewing and systematizing information from closed grievances. This task will require the drafting of standardized case summaries and organizing key information for institutional learning and internal and external dissemination purposes.
- Review and systematize existing Grievance Protocol communications used throughout the grievance management process to develop a library of communication templates and guidance for use by the IDB Grievance Protocol team.
- Contribute to the design of practical tools and reference materials for ESG specialists, including FAQs, decision trees, and operational checklists related to the IDB Grievance Protocol and grievance management process.
- Assist in preparing knowledge products and materials for internal dissemination, training activities, and institutional reporting.
