Department Buntain School of Nursing Reports To Provost
Position Summary
Northwest University is seeking a dean to provide strategic leadership in all areas necessary for the success of the Buntain School of Nursing (BSON), including: managing the undergraduate nursing education program; supervising their unique cross-cultural experiences; hiring, support, evaluation and supervision of full-time faculty, adjunct faculty and staff; student recruitment, admissions, and support; relationships with local and international clinical sites and other constituencies;
and remaining in good standing with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and the Washington State Board of Nursing.
The dean is a member of the Northwest University Faculty; reports to the Provost; serves on the Dean's Conferral and Academic Affairs Committee; chairs Buntain School of Nursing faculty meetings; chairs the BSON Advisory Board; works to improve teaching effectiveness of individual faculty members; monitors enrollment history; coordinates the development, assessment and improvement of the undergraduate program; schedules curricular offerings; manages the budget;
and represents the School of Nursing to all constituencies.
The dean also serves in a consultative, coordinative, and facilitative role in the academic leadership of the university. Success in this role requires the ability to work collegially and cooperatively with fellow deans and university departmental leaders.

Qualifications
* A graduate degree in nursing from a program accredited by a national nursing education accreditation body recognized by the United States Department of Education; and a doctoral degree in nursing, health, or a related educational field. The doctoral degree must be from a college or university accredited by both a regional accrediting body and a national nursing accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education.
* Preparation in education that includes teaching adults, adult learning theory, teaching methods, curriculum development, and curriculum evaluation, or two years of teaching experience in nursing education that demonstrates this type of preparation
* Preparation or experience in nursing administration or educational administration.
* At least five years of experience as a registered nurse including two years of experience in nursing education at or above the highest level of the nursing education program the nurse administrator will be administering.
* An active and unencumbered Washington nursing license.
* Experience with State regulators and professional accreditors.
* Demonstrated proficiency in the management of fiscal resources
* A deep, personal commitment to Jesus Christ and to the Spirit-filled life.
* Ability to articulate the integration of faith and learning within the discipline of nursing and willingness and ability to apply the Christian worldview in curricular and course design, instruction, and advising.
* Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the general constituency of the university and the School of Nursing.
* Ability to supervise faculty who prepare students for nursing careers and have positive impact on student learning.
* Ability to develop professional skills in faculty and students through coaching, modeling and direct instruction.
Compensation
Based on education, experience and the established salary schedule, this position has a pay range of $89,800 to $112,000.
