Located just outside of Seattle, WA, Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) was founded in 1949, and is the only public institute of technology in the state of Washington. Summary:

Lake Washington Institute of Technology is seeking qualified part-time instructors for the Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education Program. The instructor position requires a high level of expertise in the field of ECE, interest in combining research and application-based learning to course content, previous employment in early learning settings, education related to ECE, and an equity-based approach to teaching college-level courses.

This recruitment is to establish an applicant pool for future part-time faculty vacancies. The college hires part-time faculty on a quarter by quarter basis, dependent on enrollment. A college representative will contact you if you are selected for an interview for a potential future vacancy.

* Plan and develop a variety of sequential instructional learning objectives and experiences appropriate to the course outcomes and program goals

* Participate in the course assessment process and analyze the effectiveness of instructional methods

* Revise course content to improve instruction based on assessments, the needs of students, and current trends in the field of ECE.

* Maintain appropriate records related to student progress and college requirements

* Demonstrate professional interactions and provide equity-based expectations for all students in a clear and consistent manner. Refer students to resources and campus services as needed, report concerns, and follow disciplinary procedures as prescribed by the college.

* Design learning experiences that include class lectures, individualized assignments, group discussions/projects, research-based coursework, application of content in ECE, online learning assignments, and long-term projects.

* Implement equity-based teaching strategies including Universal Designs for Learning (UDL) and culturally responsive teaching.

* Post the class syllabus, update student grades regularly via the online course system (currently Canvas) and post final grades according to college due dates.

* Teach classes in the evenings and on Saturdays.

* A Master's degree in early childhood education, human development, or a related field is required.

* Solid knowledge base of research in ECE related to child development, curriculum, early literacy, and DAP (developmentally appropriate practice).

* Four years of ECE-related work experience in early learning settings with infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-age children.  

* Requires previous experience with developing and facilitating early childhood education-related training sessions for childcare staff. College-level ECE teaching experience is preferred.
