Director of Student Services
Job GoalTo enable each student, through safe and efficient instruction, to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the district's schools by identifying and supporting student speech and hearing needs.
Performance Responsibilities- Work cooperatively with families, schools, and communities.
- Foster a positive educational environment that contributes to the growth and development of all children, especially those at‑risk or disabled.
- Conduct evaluations and provide direct services, as well as support services, within RTI and special education frameworks.
- Provide prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students with difficulties in language, speech, voice, and fluency.
- Screen, identify, assess, diagnose, treat, intervene, and follow‑up for speech and/or language disorders.
- Create goals and benchmarks or short‑term objectives to enable students to meet learning expectations.
- Interpret and use assessment data to adjust learning environments and plan effective interventions.
- Access and employ a wide range of information and technology to enhance student learning.
- Assist in determining the least restrictive environment for services based on individual needs.
- Plan, select, use, and adjust instructional content, materials, resources, and strategies based on age, ability, cultural, linguistic, and gender differences.
- Speak and write effectively using appropriate language.
- Use a variety of formal and informal assessment tools and procedures.
- Use nondiscriminatory evaluation procedures to obtain a valid understanding of student functioning.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate information such as legal rights, evaluation results, and knowledge to parents/guardians and others.
- Maintain confidentiality of medical and academic records and privacy of individuals with disabilities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Model accurate, effective communication when conveying ideas, asking questions, and responding to students.
- Model accurate English grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and syntax in written and oral contexts.
- Communicate with parents/guardians to develop cooperative partnerships promoting learning and well‑being.
- Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor when dealing with school personnel and the public as a school leader.
