Company Description. Les Lilas French Bilingual Community School is a nonprofit, independent French-English bilingual school that blends a rigorous French curriculum with Montessori pedagogy. The school welcomes children ages 3 to 11 (preschool through 5th grade) in multi-age classrooms that foster exploration, intellectual growth, and social development. Role Description

The Early Childhood Assistant Teacher is a full-time, on-site role located in Kirkland, WA. This position supports lead teachers in bilingual (French-English) early childhood classrooms by helping implement daily learning activities, guiding small group work, and assisting with classroom management. Responsibilities include preparing materials, setting up learning environments, supervising children during indoor and outdoor activities, and promoting positive social-emotional development. The assistant teacher collaborates with colleagues to follow curriculum plans, observe and document children’s progress, and maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom.

The role also involves communicating with families as appropriate, supporting school events, and modeling the school’s values of respect, curiosity, and inclusion.

Qualifications
  • Foundational knowledge in Early Childhood Education and Child Development to support age‑appropriate learning and care.
  • Demonstrated experience in Teaching and Curriculum Development
    , preferably in preschool or early elementary settings.
  • Comfort and skill in Working With Children
    , including patience, empathy, and positive behavior guidance.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with lead teachers, staff, and families, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Interest or experience in bilingual or multicultural education;
    French language skills are a plus but not required.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, safe, and nurturing classroom environment for children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • High school diploma required; coursework or degree in Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to meet local licensing requirements, including background checks and health and safety trainings.
