Pastor of Youth and Teaching

The Pastor of Youth and Teaching is a gifted communicator, relational pastor, and passionate disciple-maker who provides primary leadership for the teaching and spiritual formation of youth, with a particular focus on high school ministry.

Serving in a co-leadership model with the Pastor of Youth Ministry, this role will develop and deliver biblically grounded, engaging, and relevant teaching while building strong relationships with high school youth and leaders.

Together, the two pastors will share responsibility for creating a healthy and growing Youth Ministry where youth encounter Jesus, experience meaningful community, and are equipped to live out and share their faith.

Teaching & Spiritual Formation

• Serve as a primary teaching voice for Youth Ministry, with an emphasis on communicating effectively to high school youth.
• Develop and oversee teaching series, curriculum, and content that are biblically grounded, relevant, and engaging.
• Ensure teaching aligns with Northshore’s mission, theology, and Next Gen Discipleship Pathway.
• Develop and coach additional teaching voices among staff, volunteers, and youth.
• Help youth grow in Scripture, prayer, worship, and other spiritual practices.
• Equip youth to understand, live out, and share their faith.

High School Ministry

• Provide focused pastoral leadership and relational investment with high school youth.
• Help shape environments and experiences that specifically engage and disciple high school youth.
• Develop high school youth leaders and create opportunities for them to serve, lead, and influence their peers.
• Build relationships with high school youths beyond weekly programming through school, community, and relational connections.
• Help youth prepare spiritually for the transition from high school into adulthood and continued engagement in the local church.

Youth Ministry Co-Leadership

• Partner with the Pastor of Youth Ministry to provide shared vision and leadership for the overall Youth Ministry.
• Collaboratively lead weekly gatherings, Life Groups, camps, retreats, outreach opportunities, and special events.
• Recruit, develop, and encourage adult and youth leaders.
• Provide pastoral care for youth and families.
• Partner with parents to support the spiritual development of their youth.
• Work closely with the Pastor of Youth Ministry, establishing clear areas of ownership while maintaining shared leadership and accountability.
• Collaborate with the broader Next Gen team to create a unified discipleship strategy.
• Participate in Next Gen planning, events, volunteer development, and ministry initiatives.

• Higher education degree or comparable skills in theological concepts and child development
• Passionate about the mission and vision of Northshore Community Church. Theologically aligned with Northshore’s Statement of Faith, and committed to Northshore’s Staff Values
• High degree of personal integrity. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding staff or congregant personal information, including ministry leaders, volunteers, youth, and parents
• Demonstrated level of maturity and judgment, as well as the ability to remain objective and develop trusting and respectful relationships at all levels
• Excellent communication skills from stage, in front of groups, and with team members
• Flexibility and adaptability to the changing needs of the youth ministry
• Demonstrated effectiveness in leading teams and motivating leaders
• Ability to think strategically, set priorities, and be decisive
