Staff Power Systems Engineer

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in a technical leadership role, with industrial power system design, development and testing (including data centers).
- Experience in infrastructure design of electrical systems.
- Experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
- Experience with electric power industry standards, building codes and safety standards including NEC, ANSI, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, UL, UFC and UBC.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business or other relevant fields, or a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- 10 years of experience in high voltage and medium voltage infrastructure design and distribution equipment, including switch gear, transformers, protective relaying, UPS, and emergency generation systems.
- 5 years of experience in data center LV power distribution with busways, bus plugs and rack interface design.
- Experience with electrical distribution, energy storage, and electrical generation technologies, including other microgrid resources.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams in hardware engineering, platforms and server rack design to collaborate on server hall power distribution design.
Our Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. We develop complex power and energy solutions that support cloud, machine learning and other Google products, ensuring compliance with codes and standards while driving innovation and efficiency.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with executive team members on creating future data center architecture and design concepts.
- Investigate renewable power generation, storage technologies and other carbon free energy technologies and identify the best ways to integrate them into the electrical system architecture.
- Create and maintain a plan of record electrical single line and layouts to enable quick implementation in the field.
- Develop architecture and products that will form the reference design for Google Data Centers.
- Identify and propose innovative ways of distributing power within the data center server hall.
