Job Overview

This role is for a highly dynamic and motivated individual that will work with manufacturing engineers to construct instructions and processes for technicians performing test operations. The Test Engineer will support both development and production testing of satellites and their subsystems. The focus for this role will be in dynamics testing – both vibration table and acoustics. You will work with designers, system engineers, and analysts to construct detailed work instructions for technicians performing environmental test operations.

This role will be responsible for supporting the test team to ensure that tests are conducted in compliance with industry standards as well as internal work instructions. This includes reviewing post‑test data and performing root‑cause corrective actions for any failures. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with cross‑functional teams to lead process and lab improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work a 4x10 schedule, Wednesday through Saturday, 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM.
  • Operate test consoles and work with engineering and technician teams to conduct dynamic testing.
  • Review test plans and write work instructions for technicians to set up and execute testing.
  • Analyze post‑test data and write test reports for any non‑compliant or off‑nominal events.
  • Review failure events and perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Assess safe working conditions and write Job Hazard Analyses for work areas.
  • Work in a hands‑on lab environment.
  • Apply project management skills to accomplish technical projects that span cross‑functional teams.
  • Establish and increase the efficiency of environmental test processes to maximize output and enable products to rapidly transition from engineering development to production.
  • Establish production processes for 5S, FOD control, tool management, calibration procedures, and visual management of production tooling and equipment.
  • Enable production test autonomy by challenging requirements, simplifying work procedures, and automating actions.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • 2+ years of hands‑on environmental test experience with vibration, shock, and acoustic testing in compliance with MIL‑STD‑810, SMC‑S‑016, or MIL‑STD‑1540.
  • 2+ years working with Data Acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with installation of test instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience running force‑limited vibration testing.
  • Experience running Direct Field Acoustic Testing.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Familiarity with ICP/IEPE accelerometers, strain gauges, and Force sensors.
  • Experience with M+P, Kistler, or Vibration Research software and DAS.
  • Experience creating automated scripts (Python, Matlab, LabVIEW or similar).
  • Experience with SAP or other Manufacturing Execution System for work instruction authoring.
  • Basic automation experience (Python or similar).
  • Experience commissioning and troubleshooting test equipment.
