Sr. Engineer - Drainage

Position Overview

Senior Drainage Design Engineer – Lead the planning, design, and delivery of stormwater and drainage infrastructure projects in the Pacific Northwest. Works with transportation, land development, and public works clients while ensuring compliance with state and local regulations. Requires a Washington Professional Engineering license.

• Lead design and construction of stormwater and drainage systems for highway, transit, and land development projects.
• Coordinate with clients, design teams, and public agencies, ensuring compliance with WSDOT and Washington State Department of Ecology design manuals.
• Create project scopes, proposals, budgets, and schedules.
• Use hydraulic modeling tools, e.g., HEC‑RAS, SRH2D, Micro Station, InRoads, Western Washington Hydraulic Model, and MGS Flood.
• Manage design tasks independently, providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior staff.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Valid Washington Professional Engineering license.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with WSDOT and Washington State Department of Ecology design manuals.

• 10+ years of experience with highway‑related drainage design and construction.
• At least 2 years of recent WSDOT highway drainage design experience.
• Experience on design‑build projects.
• Familiarity with the WSDOT Highway Runoff Manual, 1D/2D hydraulic modeling, and HEC‑RAS, SRH2D.
• Experience with Micro Station, InRoads, and western Washington hydraulic models.
• Proven ability to develop proposals, scopes of work, and budgets.
• Demonstrated client relationships with local and state agencies.

Salary Range: $130,000 – $190,000/yr.
