Requisition Summary
The Aftersales Engineering team is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to identify and resolve product field issues, improve customer uptime, and reduce warranty spend. The role focuses on developing design solutions that enhance reliability and quality.
Job Functions / Responsibilities- Participate in the design of heavy‑duty trucks within the Aftersales Engineering group, focusing on field reliability and quality.
- Analyze and troubleshoot field failures to determine root causes in vehicle systems.
- Design and develop assigned elements such as hoods, fittings, chassis, suspension, engine, and aftertreatment systems.
- Provide interface documentation to wiring design, system architects, and mechanical design groups.
- Contribute to procedures and practices that ensure quality and reliability.
- Analyze warranty data to support issue identification and root‑cause analysis.
- Use data to identify priorities and drive achievement of department and division goals.
- Integrate components, features, and requirements into Kenworth/PACCAR vehicles.
- Manage suppliers, engineering, and project management processes to maintain schedule, quality, and functionality.
- Track and report progress toward warranty and downtime reduction goals.
- Plan and track validation testing of components.
- Support solution launches at vehicle assembly plants.
- Ensure industry‑leading quality and reliability is met and exceeded on all components.
- Apply creativity to design tasks and propose innovative approaches to standard work.
- Work with cross‑functional teams on warranty‑reduction projects, including initiation, design, validation, release, and field support.
- Use the Product Creation Process with Tollgate to manage projects, report updates, and apply Six Sigma methodologies.
- Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously.
- Use Creo Parametric to create optimized parts and complex assemblies.
- Up to 10% travel.
- BS or equivalent engineering degree required.
- Master’s degree in engineering and/or P.E. certificate are a plus.
- 3–5+ years of experience in specifying and designing complex automotive or commercial vehicle systems.
- Proficiency with Requirements Management tools, Systems Engineering tools, and 3D CAD software such as Pro/E.
- Competence in word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.
- Engineering knowledge of heavy‑duty commercial truck safety systems and regulations.
- Experience creating engineering documentation, including component drawings and diagrams.
- Experience responding to Requests for Engineering Information, writing Engineering Change Notices, coordinating test, supporting production, and customer service.
- Knowledge of SQL/databases.
- Solid understanding of Design for Six Sigma and Six Sigma techniques.
- Willingness to learn new engineering processes and techniques and to solve complex technical problems.
- Experience in product development and new product implementation.
- Team‑oriented working style.
- Experience with project management tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Willingness to grow personally and professionally.

Salary range: $86,900 – $136,300 annually. Eligible for holiday gift and the full range of benefits above.
