Position: Nurse Tech- MedSurg Units *START DATE JUNE 22, 2026*

Overview

Wage: $25.00/hr + 15% per diem premium. Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.

Evergreen Health is seeking Nurse Technicians for our Med Surg Units:
Med Surg, Medical Oncology, and Ortho, Spine & Neuro.

Candidates for this position must be a nursing student currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a school of nursing program and have completed at least one acute care hospital clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Nurse Technician is a student enrolled in a school of nursing who provides individualized care to patients. Functions under the direct supervision of an assigned registered nurse and within the scope of practice that the supervising registered nurse has determined is appropriate. The scope of practice is based on the education and skills of the Nurse Technician and defined by the Washington Administrative Code (WAC).

May assist with general clinical responsibilities that contribute directly and indirectly to patient care; working with other members of the healthcare team to provide continuity of care.

Primary Duties:

  • Responsible to accept only those assignments within the limits of academic preparation.
  • Provides quarterly documentation of enrollment in nursing program and updated Skills Verification Form completed and signed by the School of Nursing
  • Delivers nursing care within the limits of their academic preparation that is verified by their nursing program and established standards of care, hospital and unit guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safe and correct skills and proper technique, within their nursing school training and consistent with Evergreen Health nursing policies and standards.
  • Initiates appropriate nursing care, reports, and collaborates with the supervising RN and offers suggestions for the care plan. Must inform their supervising RN if a task or function is not within their scope and must not perform the task.
  • Gathers patient information and administers and documents nursing care including taking vital signs, and observing signs and symptoms of disease/illness.
  • Assists patients in activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, eating, basic hygiene and mobility (ambulating, turning, positioning and range of motion).
  • Performs treatments and procedures in accordance with the verified formal training received through the Nursing degree program as delegated by the supervising RN and signed off on the competency assessment report.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The Nurse Technician may not assume the following responsibilities:

  • Work independently, act as a supervisor, or delegate tasks.
  • Administer chemotherapy, blood or blood products, IV medications or scheduled drugs.
  • Perform procedures on central lines.
  • Take a verbal or telephone order from a provider.
  • Transcribe a written order.
  • Perform any procedure not yet covered in their nursing curriculum.
  • Perform any procedure not yet covered at Evergreen Health nor signed off on the competency assessment report.
Qualifications

License, Certification, Education or

Experience:

REQUIRED for the position:

  • Current Washington State registration as a Nursing Technician.
  • Current and continued enrollment, in good standing, in a Washington State Nursing Commission approved BSN or ADN program and a nationally accredited nursing program such as ACEN or CCNE.
  • Satisfactory completion of 2 semesters/3 quarters of their nursing program, and have had a clinical component in acute care by start date
  • Graduating from nursing school in March 2027 or later
  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire.
  • Able to start on June 22, 2026.

DESIRED for the position:

  • Recent experience in a healthcare setting involving patient contact.
  • Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (NA-C) in the State of Washington.
