About the Role
The defense and national security market is not won on technology alone. It is won by people who understand how government buys, what it prioritizes, and how to position a company to win. Beacon Global Strategies is seeking a Vice President to do exactly that — helping the most consequential technology companies build and grow their public sector businesses with Defense and National Security customers.
The Vice President champions client engagements within our National Security Technology Practice, with a specific focus on helping companies build Public Sector businesses. The VP will be responsible for building and executing business development strategies for a portfolio of clients and managing client relations. Client support within the National Security Technology Practice focuses on growing public sector businesses, particularly with Defense and National Security customers.
This entails strategy development, execution, and branding and positioning support. The VP will be responsible for maintaining expertise and relationships within the defense and national security acquisition ecosystem to advise clients on U.S. Government (USG) priorities and processes.
Growth Strategy
Location:Washington, DC (4 out of 5 days onsite)
Core Responsibilities- Manage relationships and a portfolio of clients across a variety of technologies, products and services, with the support of Associates, other VPs, and Managing Directors.
- Oversee the formulation of strategies, and briefing of client deliverables designed to enhance market position and convey critical insights to matters pertaining to defense technology and acquisitions.
- Provide thought leadership through publications and at events related to National Security, Technology and Acquisition.
- Provide strategic guidance to clients on developments in USG national security technology priorities, policy and regulatory landscape, and acquisition processes to inform sales solutions.
- Help clients understand how the U.S. government, private industry, think tanks, and the media interact and inform policy decisions.
- Tie acquisition and policy expertise to clients’ business needs to shape their government affairs and go-to-market strategies.
- Maintain a network of key relationships with the ability to make connections and create optimal partnerships; conduct outreach to relevant USG entities and stakeholders.
- Proactively propose and generate new products/ideas in anticipation of client needs.
- Continuously develop subject matter expertise in national security and technology advancements.
- Promote mastery of administrative functions and project management as key to client team success.
- Manage, train and mentor team members to maintain quality of the work and foster teamwork.
- Strong network and reputation in the defense and national security technology space.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the national security ecosystem in a business development or government capacity.
- Experience managing teams, robust projects, and leading client engagements.
- Ideal candidate will be well-versed in U.S. acquisition policy, sales best practices, regulations, and industry trends to provide informed and proactive advice to clients.
- A commercial mindset and capacity to articulate the business implications of public policy.
- Demonstrated track record leading engagements that shape key strategy decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to succeed in a matrixed environment using strong collaboration skills and professional judgement.
