**** Job Purpose/Overview
** The Lead Laboratory Technician oversees the day-to-day activities in an animal diagnostic reference laboratory performing laboratory analyses and tests.  Supervises staff, assigns work and evaluates results.
** Essential Duties and Responsibilities

** Supervise day-to-day activities in the laboratory performing laboratory analyses and tests
* Supervise staff, assign work and monitor activities
* Resolve escalated issues
* Administer employment actions, provide coaching and guidance to staff and promote staff training and development
* Provides input to department policies and procedures
* Leads work activities of the lab planning and organizing work, providing adequate staffing and resources and maintaining work on schedule so that ongoing customer satisfaction is maintained
* Communicate with other related departments and laboratory supervisors and managers to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed.
* Contribute to the maintenance of department diagnostic equipment and other technical resources
* Coordinate with internal personnel, vendors and others as needed to resolve issues and maintain ongoing functionality
* Train on all according to all Standard Operating Procedures
* Oversee the entering and releasing of results
* Oversee the building and packing of send outs to the main lab.
* Train on workflow and production goals
* Order and maintain an appropriate level of supplies
* Review of Quality Control Protocols
* Provide feedback regarding staff performance to leadership
* Perform other duties as assigned

*** High school diploma or equivalent required
* 2- or 4-year degree in science related field preferred or minimum of 1-year clinical laboratory experience
* Prior leadership experience preferred

*** Stationary Position- must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours.
