Key Job Responsibilities- Work a 4x10 schedule; possible shifts:
Back‑Half (Wed‑Sat), Day (0600‑1630) or Night (1700‑0330). - Lead and guide a team of Test Technicians by planning, assigning and executing daily tasks, and assisting with onboarding and training.
- Perform functional and environmental testing, repair and troubleshoot Kuiper phased‑array antennas and other critical assemblies.
- Enforce high quality and safety standards for both product and personnel.
- Produce daily reports on integration phased‑array antenna builds.
- Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, multimeters, optical inspection devices, micrometers and calipers.
- Read, create and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions, even when some details may be ambiguous.
- Use computer software programs for conducting tests.
- Check and inspect work, as well as others’, after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawings and work instruction requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, design and test engineers to develop, document and complete activities, including continuous improvement opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure an efficient, safe and effective work environment.

A day in the life
The Lead Test Technician guides a team of test technicians to test and troubleshoot critical spaceflight systems for the Kuiper satellite. This team works closely with cross‑functional engineering, test, quality and operations teams to deliver Kuiper production hardware at the final integration and testing level, prior to launch. The position requires skill and experience in PCBA testing, mechanical assembly, avionics integration, electrical checkouts and environmental testing.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years experience in electrical hardware assembly, test, and/or installation.
- 1+ year in a high‑traceability manufacturing environment, or relevant trade‑school certification.
- 1+ year using hand tools and precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, multimeters, torque wrenches).
- 1+ year working with test tools and methods that adequately validate the system.
- 1+ year experience leading technicians in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the aerospace, automotive, medical device, aviation, military or other high‑reliability operating environment.
- Experience working in an ambiguous, fast‑paced production environment.
- Experience with FOD, ESD‑sensitive hardware and clean‑room requirements.
- Experience with forklifts, cranes and heavy equipment (including certifications).
- Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and hand or power tools requiring manual dexterity.
- Ability to read, write, create and understand technical drawings, work instructions, test plans and SOPs.
- Detailed knowledge of electrical, optical and mechanical systems, antennas, functional testing and satellite components.
- Ability to use a wide variety of precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing roles/responsibilities in a high‑paced, challenging work environment.
- Willingness to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed; shifts may vary depending on program needs.
